Day trip starting in Darley, heading up to the Lerderderg quarry (“4×4 training ground”) for a drive around and practice some of the obstacles there for an hour or so, then north through the park up Nuggety Track towards Wombat State Forest, stopping for lunch at the Upper Chadwick campground (where there are toilets and picnic areas), then continuing on to tackle Amblers lane (which includes crossing the Lerderderg River), and then on to the mineral springs at Blackwood.
After the drive, members are invited to join us for a meal and drink at the Pig & Whistle Hotel in Trentham.
This trip will initially be capped at eight vehicles, however if there is strong interest we can expand that to 14 and run two convoys.
Trip rating “medium” difficulty in dry conditions.
This trip will be dog and child friendly, and we intend to spend a reasonable amount of time out of our vehicles socialising at various stopover points.
Mandatory equipment: All-terrain tyres, UHF and recovery points.
