Trip leaders: The “trip leader” accreditation recognises that the individual has demonstrated experience and competence
spanning driving skills, communication skills, organisation, decision-making, safety, a thorough knowledge of
the club’s procedures, and alignment with the clubs values and adherence to the “tread lightly” principle. The
accreditation signifies that the member is able to safely lead trips that are rated “easy” and “medium”.

Advanced trip leaders: the intention of this advanced accreditation is to recognise the additional skills and experience required to
safely lead trips in very difficult terrain. In addition to the skills, experience and personal qualities
demonstrated by Trip Leaders, the Advanced accreditation indicates that the individual also possess the
following:

● Extensive experience and demonstrable skill navigating extreme terrain
● The ability to guide less experienced club members through such terrain
● Experience and appropriately equipped vehicle to manage complex vehicle recoveries
● Bush mechanic skills sufficient to keep the convoy moving after mechanical issues
